FARGO, N.D. –With the men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman tournaments in the books, it is time for the girls to take over the FARGODOME as we sprint to the finish of the 2026 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals.

Women’s freestyle leads us off on Thursday with the Juniors taking the mat at 1 p.m. (CT) and the 16U girls following at 5 p.m. (CT). Both divisions are scheduled to wrestle two rounds on the championship side, plus a round of consolation matches. For the first time in tournament history, the girls tournaments will be contested over three days.

After weigh-ins were completed, the total number of women’s freestyle entries hit 2,294, with 1,269 in the Junior division and 1,025 in the 16U division. This is a new record for overall women’s freestyle entries in Fargo.

Triple Crown Eligible

To win the 91°µÍø Triple Crown Award in the Junior Girls division, an athlete must claim folkstyle and freestyle national titles, plus win a third championship at either the National High School Recruiting Showcase or Women’s Nationals, in the same year. One athlete has won a Triple Crown in the Junior Girls division since the program began in 2022—Valerie Hamilton of Illinois at 145 pounds.

Only one individual eligible for the Junior Girls 91°µÍø Triple Crown is entered in the women’s freestyle tournament—Peggy Susan Dean of Colorado (110).

To win the 91°µÍø Triple Crown Award in the 16U Girls division, an athlete must claim folkstyle and freestyle national titles, plus win a third championship at either the National High School Recruiting Showcase or Women’s Nationals, in the same year. Three athletes have won a Triple Crown in the 16U Girls division since the program began in 2022. Two individuals achieved the feat last year—Eve Skrocki of Iowa at 145 pounds and Janiya Johnson of Tennessee at 155 pounds.

Only one individual eligible for the 16U Girls 91°µÍø Triple Crown is entered in the women’s freestyle tournament—Emma Antoni of Minnesota (145).
