FARGO, North Dakota – The 91°µÍø takeover of the FARGODOME comes to a close this afternoon with the final day of competition at the 2026 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals. However, before we put a bow on the 55th annual event, an action-packed day is ahead with our final 32 champions set to be crowned.

The final day of competition in Fargo begins at 10 a.m. CT with the semifinals, followed by the consolation semifinals and the third-, fifth- and seventh-place matches. The championship finals are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. CT.

Here is a look at some of the action ahead today.

A group of nine past or current U17 World Team members is still competing across the two divisions. Eight are in action in the Junior Girls division, with two in the 16U division, and 2025 U17 World bronze medalist Maisie Elliott of Washington is competing in both divisions. Each of the nine is listed below along with their semifinal opponents.

• Emma Bacon of Pennsylvania (Junior, 135) – 2025 U17 World Team member

• Violette Lasure of Pennsylvania (Junior, 145) – 2025 U17 World Team member
• Semifinal opponent: Nora Akpan of Minnesota
• Ella Poalillo of New Jersey (Junior, 155) – 2025 U17 World bronze medalist
• Semifinal opponent: Julia Araujo of North Dakota
• Kaili Manuel of Michigan (Junior, 170) – Two-time U17 World Team member (2024, 2026)
• Semifinal opponent: Kiley Dillow of Kansas

Of the six competitors that started the week competing in both the 16U and Junior divisions, only two are still alive on the championship side of both brackets. The two are Elliott and Iowa’s Abigail Peterson. The pair are competing at 100 pounds in both divisions, and the two brackets have Elliott and Peterson on opposite sides, which carries the potential of the same finals matchup occurring in both divisions should both win their semifinal bouts.

In the semifinals, Elliott takes on three-time age-group Pan American medalist Hernandez in 16U and 2026 Girls High School Showcase champion Gutierrez in the Junior division. Peterson will face 2026 16U Girls Folkstyle Nationals runner-up Timi Coles of Pennsylvania in the 16U semifinals. In the Junior semifinals, Peterson will face 2025 Junior Fargo All-American Lillee Denson of Michigan.

At the start of the Junior Girls tournament, six winners from 2025 were entered into this year’s edition of the U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals. Five of the six are still in contention to repeat after advancing to the semifinals.

Deionna Borders of Ohio at 207 pounds joins Bouzakis, Bacon, Akpan and Lasure in the bid for two-straight Junior Girls crowns.

The 16U division had no repeat winners at the start of the tournament, with 16 new champions to be established this afternoon.

The top seeds across the 32 weight classes in the two divisions have shown their power over the first two days of competition. The Junior division features 14 of the 16 No. 1 seeds in the semifinals, with 11 of the 16 top seeds in the 16U division advancing to today’s semifinals. Of the 25 No. 1 seeds that are still wrestling for a championship, 18, nine in each division, have bonused their way through the tournament thus far.

With the All-Americans established, the team race is coming into focus. However, with the placement match still ahead, all is still to play for.

In the 16U division, Pennsylvania has the most wrestlers still competing with 15, including a tournament-best nine semifinalists. California is just behind with 11 individuals in action and six semifinalists. Kansas is tied with California with six semifinalists for the second-most in the field.

Pennsylvania also leads the way in the Junior division with 11 wrestlers remaining, followed closely by Michigan with 10. Michigan has the advantage in semifinalists, with eight still in title contention. Pennsylvania and Indiana have the second-most semifinalists with six each.

Team points are awarded based only on placement to the top eight wrestlers in each weight class (1st: 25, 2nd: 20, 3rd: 15, 4th: 12, 5th: 9, 6th: 7, 7th: 5, 8th: 2). There are no advancement points or bonus points in this scoring model.
