BAKU, Azerbaijan – Madison Healey locked in her spot in tonight’s medal round after a strong performance in the repechage on Friday morning at the 2026 U17 World Championships.

Healey controlled the match from start to finish against Mungunchimeg Gavaa of Mongolia. After an early takedown, Healey tilted Gavaa twice and then sealed the match with two more turns off a gutwrench to secure the 10-0 technical fall.

With the victory, Healey now moves into the bronze medal match at 46 kg against Vivien Szentpal of Hungary, who finished fifth at the 2024 U17 World Championships.

Team USA is sending all five individuals from women’s freestyle group two (40-46-53-61-69 kg) into tonight’s medal matches.

Healey joins Sophia Valdez in the bronze medal bouts. Marlee Solomon, Landri Von Gonten and Taina Fernandez wrestle for gold.

The five medal matches tonight come on the heels of the U.S. winning three medals in women’s freestyle on Thursday.
