Greco-Roman Athlete Bios

Leister Bowling IV and Arvin Khosravy are back on the U20 Greco-Roman World Team after appearances at last year’s championships. The duo headlines the 10-man U.S. Greco-Roman side heading to the 2026 U20 World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia. Greco-Roman action at Sportova Hala Mladost takes place August 16-19.

The U20 Greco-Roman World Team was set based on the results from the U20 World Team Trials, which was a part of the U.S. Open Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., in April.

Making his debut on the World stage last year in Samokov, Bulgaria, Bowling IV advanced to the medal rounds and placed fifth at the U20 World Championships.

Khosravy is set to make his third-straight appearance on the U20 World Team and his fifth-straight age group World Team appearance. Khosravy placed 11th at last year’s U20 World Championships and 14th in 2024. He also competed at the 2022 and 2023 U17 World Championships and posted a fifth-place finish in his age-group World Championships debut in 2022.

Ezekiel Witt and Trayvn Boger return to the World stage after making U17 World appearances in their careers. Witt represented the U.S. on the U17 World Team in 2023, and Boger competed at the 2024 event.

Fresh off double All-American honors, including a Greco-Roman national title at the 2026 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals, Nicholas Sorrow is slated to make his first World Championships appearance for the U.S. However, he is no stranger to competing for Team USA after winning gold at the 2025 U17 Pan American Championships in Greco-Roman and silver in men’s freestyle.

Manuel Saldate also first donned a Team USA singlet on the continental stage, where he swept gold in Greco-Roman and men’s freestyle at the 2025 U17 Pan American Championships.

The Northern Michigan University pair of Amryn Nutter and Aidan Squier have also represented the U.S. in international competition prior to upcoming appearances at U20 Worlds. Nutter won gold at the 2025 Bill Farrell Memorial International and Squier competed at the Haparanda Cup in Sweden last year.

Eli Esguerra and Cittadino Tuttle round out the U.S. Greco-Roman roster competing at this year’s U20 World Championships. Esguerra was named Outstanding Wrestler at the U20 World Team Trials after dominating the 72 kg bracket and bonusing his way to the title and U20 World Team spot. Esguerra finished with five technical falls and two pins, capped off by a 28-second, 8-0 tech fall to complete the sweep in the best-of-three championship series. At 97 kg, Tuttle scored a pair of technical falls in his championship series to lock in his spot on the U20 World Team.

Iran comes in as the defending Greco-Roman champions after compiling 117 points to beat out second-place Armenia, who had 98 points. Georgia, which finished sixth in the team standings, was the only country to produce two gold medalists. Team USA finished 17th in the team race in 2025.

The Greco-Roman field at this year’s U20 World Championships currently comprises 248 wrestlers from 47 countries. The field includes 12 returning medalists from 2025, including reigning U20 World champions Aykhan Javadov of Azerbaijan at 60 kg, Luka Kochalidze of Georgia at 87 kg, Yehor Yakushenko of Ukraine at 97 kg and Ali Iliasov of Russia at 130 kg. Yakushenko looks to become the ninth wrestler to win three U20 World titles.

The 97 kg weight class features three total returning medalists with Yakushenko, Erik Ter Matevosyan of Armenia and Ilia Komarov of Russia. Ter Matevosyan won bronze at 87 kg and Komarov won bronze at 97 kg in 2025.

Greco-Roman competition takes place over four days at the U20 World Championships and kicks off the event on Sunday, August 16. The 10 weight classes will be split into three groups, with each group competing over two days. Group one (63-77-87-130 kg) competes on Sunday and Monday, group two (55-67-72-97 kg) on Monday and Tuesday and group three (60-82 kg) on Tuesday and Wednesday.
