BAKU, Azerbaijan – After powering their way into the semifinals, Epenesa Elison and Kaili Manuel both finished Wednesday unbeaten with semifinal victories to advance to the finals at the 2026 U17 World Championships.

Reigning U17 World silver medalist Elison was the first on the mat for the U.S., and she only needed 29 seconds to book her trip to the championship. After a takedown in the opening seconds, she ran a bar against 2026 U17 Pan American silver medalist Gurleen Dhillon of Canada and stuck the pin to move into the final.

Elison takes on Nikita Sehtawat of India in the gold medal match at 57 kg.

Two-time U17 World Team member Manuel got off to a strong start against Garima of India, where she ran the score up to 7-0. Manuel fended off a late comeback try from 2024 U15 Asian champion Garima and secured the 7-5 decision.

In the championship match at 73 kg, Manuel faces returning U17 World bronze medalist Solomiia Petriv of Ukraine.

Along with two in tomorrow’s finals, the U.S. saw Lilly Lundy (43 kg), Isla Silva (49 kg) and Eve Skrocki (65 kg) pulled back into the repechage.

Lundy will face two-time U15 Asian champion Sera Furuichi of Japan in her first repechage match. Silva takes on three-time U15 Asian Championships bronze medalist Aiana Asylbekova of Kyrgyzstan and Skrocki goes up against Szonja Veres of Hungary.
