BAKU, Azerbaijan – After dropping a heartbreaker during her first match of the 2026 U17 World Championship on Wednesday, Isla Silva bounced back in the repechage to advance to the bronze medal match at the National Gymnastics Arena.

Silva pinned her way into the bronze medal match this evening after securing a four-point throw that finished with her settling in for the pin with six seconds left in the first period against three-time U15 Asian bronze medalist Aiana Asylbekova of Kyrgyzstan.

For bronze at 49 kg, Silva faces Ayanat Meinambay of Kazakhstan.

Lilly Lundy and Eve Skrocki also represented the U.S. in the repechage on Thursday morning. At 65 kg, needing two wins to move into the bronze medal match, Skrocki posted a 4-2 decision over Szonja Veres of Hungary. However, in her next match, Skrocki was unable to keep her momentum going and suffered an 11-0 defeat to two-time age group European medalist Margarita Lisita of Moldova. Lundy was pinned in her match at 43 kg by two-time U15 Asian champion Sera Furuichi of Japan.

Silva joins 2025 U17 World silver medalist Epenesa Elison (57 kg) and two-time U17 World Team member Kaili Manuel (73 kg) in tonight’s medal rounds. Elison faces Nikita Sehrawat of India and Manuel battles returning U17 World bronze medalist Solomiia Petriv of Ukraine.
