Greco-Roman Draws Released for 2026 U17 World Championships

BAKU, Azerbaijan – Brackets for Greco-Roman competition at the 2026 U17 World Championships have been released. Action from the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan, begins on Monday at 10:30 a.m. local time/2:30 a.m. ET.

 

Reigning U17 World bronze medalist Arseni Kikiniou begins his hunt for another medal against India’s Kunal Dagar in the opening round on Monday in the first Greco-Roman group (48-55-65-80-110 kg).

 

The remainder of the group in action on Monday includes Arav Pandey at 48 kg, Corey Brown at 55 kg, Ivan Ivanov at 80 kg and Bruno Pallone at 110 kg.

 

Fresh off his third-straight Fargo title, Ivanov makes his age-group World Championships debut against Alireza Rezaei of Iran. In the qualification round at 55 kg, Brown faces the 2026 U17 African Championships gold medalist Abdullah Ahmed of Egypt.

 

At 110 kg, Pallone takes on Mitsuyoshi Urushima of Japan in his opening bout. Pandey, who opens in the round of 16, faces Türkiye’s Mustafa Karakose.

 

The final five Greco-Roman weight classes begin action on Tuesday.

 

Rylen Wax joins Kikiniou in competing in both Greco-Roman and men’s freestyle this week. Wax’s Greco-Roman tournament at 45 kg begins against 2026 U17 European Championships bronze medalist Vazgen Vardanyan of Armenia.

 

Wyatt Dannegger earned a bye at 51 kg and takes on the winner of Georgios Chondronasio of Greece or reigning U17 World bronze medalist Vadim Tarelunga of Moldova.

 

At 92 kg, William Etu also earned a bye in the opening round and battles the winner of two-time age-group Balkans Championships medalist Polykarpos Servetas of Greece or Rajvardhan Patil of India. Aiden Arnett, who finished as a double All-American at Fargo just 12 days ago, gets a two-time age-group Balkans Championships medalist of his own in his opening match at 71 kg.

 

Rounding out the Greco-Roman draw for Team USA is Cooper Mathews in the 60 kg weight class. Mathews’ opening round affair comes against Armenia’s Artush Petrosyan.


Group one will wrestle through the quarterfinals during the morning session on Monday, followed by the semifinals at 6 p.m. local time/10 a.m. ET on Monday. Repechage matches and medal bouts take place on Tuesday.
