Men’s Freestyle Draws Set for 2026 U17 World Championships in Baku

BAKU, Azerbaijan – Draws for the men’s freestyle discipline have been announced for the 2026 U17 World Championship at the National Gymnastics Arena. Men’s freestyle action commences on Friday at 10 a.m. local time/2:30 a.m. ET.


Fresh off his Greco-Roman U17 World title on Wednesday, Rylen Wax begins his run in men’s freestyle at 45 kg against Hanumant Jadhav of India. Wax is joined by Arseni Kikiniou in doubling up at the U17 Worlds in Greco-Roman and men’s freestyle. Kikiniou, who medaled in both disciplines last year and finished as the silver medalist in men’s freestyle, takes on Bidzina Jintcharadze of Georgia in his first bout. Jintcharadze won bronze at last year’s U17 Beach World Championships.


At 80 kg, Jayden O’Farrill draws an opening round battle against returning U17 World bronze medalist Ayubjon Bozorzoda of Tajikistan.


O’Farrill and Kikiniou are two of the five wrestlers in action on Friday in the men’s freestyle group one. Joining the pair are Kooper Deputy at 48 kg, Chase Karenbauer at 55 kg and Peter Mocco at 110 kg.


Deputy earned a bye and faces the winner of 2026 U17 African silver medalist Ahmed Saleh of Egypt and Bogdan Sapojnic of Germany in the round of 16. Four-time age-group Pan American champion Karenbauer has an opening round bout against Valentin Deleanu of Moldova. Mocco’s first contest comes against Georgia’s Murtaz Bagdavadze, who placed fifth at last year’s U17 World Championships.


Saturday’s group features Wax opening men’s freestyle competition alongside Evan Restivo (51 kg), Jojo Burke (60 kg), Camryn Howard (71 kg) and Salah Tsarni (92 kg).


Restivo, who is a four-time age-group Pan American champion, first battles Said Nabiev of Tajikistan. 2026 U17 men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman Pan American champion, Tsarni opens his journey on the World stage against Ukraine’s Artem Zalvovskyi.


Two-time U15 Pan American champion Howard goes up against Slovakia’s Georgo Both. Burke rounds out Team USA’s men’s freestyle draw against either 2025 U17 World Team member Stefan Puscas of Romania or Shota Fujiwara of Japan after receiving a bye into the round of 16.
