Deputy Rolls in Repechage, Joins Karenbauer in Medal Rounds at U17 World Championships

Kooper Deputy scores takedown during the repechage at the 2026 U17 World Championships
BAKU, Azerbaijan – Needing just one victory to lock in a spot in tonight’s medal rounds, Kooper Deputy rolled in his repechage bout on Saturday morning at the 2026 U17 World Championships.
At 48 kg, Deputy went up against two-time age-group European champion Huseyn Rzazade of Azerbaijan, who had his home crowd behind him. However, Deputy silenced the crowd from the start and won in a 12-1 rout to clinch a spot in the bronze medal match.
Deputy’s bronze medal foe is 2026 U17 European silver medalist Volodymyr Boiko of Ukraine. Boiko lost a 5-0 decision to India’s Aaryan in last night’s semifinals.

Following the repechage rounds, Chase Karenbauer, who moved into the bronze medal match at 55 kg on Friday, found out his opponent. Two-time age-group Asian medalist Prathmesh Patil of India won a 10-0 bout against Yusuf Kocak of Türkiye in the second repechage match of the bracket to setup his match with Karenbauer.
